Asigra teamed up with iXsystems to offer Asigra’s software to the multitude of TrueNAS and TrueNAS CORE (formerly known as FreeNAS) users. The Asigra Plug-In is easy to install and manage. The Asigra DS-System repository software runs natively on TrueNAS controller – which frees up resources by not requiring an external host to run the actual backup software on. If you’re already using TrueNAS or TrueNAS CORE, it is a no-brainer to install and test it out.

Getting Started

Step 1

Download and install the TrueNAS CORE application ISO from the FreeNAS.org website. Once you’ve successfully installed and configured the TrueNAS CORE application you can add the Asigra Plug-in from the TrueNAS CORE dropdown menu. Once the plug-in has been installed, you will be prompted to “Register” the Asigra Plug-in, after which you can commence with the registration process.

Completing the Registration Process

Step 2

You will receive an email from Asigra asking you to confirm your email address. Click the link in the email to complete the registration process.

Configuring the Asigra Plug-in

Step 3
  1. Download the “Asigra Plug-In for TrueNAS CORE Quick Start Guide” for instructions on how to enable your DS-System backup vault.
  2. Log on to the TrueNAS CORE web UI and open a command shell for the Asiga plug-in.
  3. Set the root user password for the Asigra plug-in.
  4. Add a DS-System admin user.

Step 4

 

Video 1: Log on to TrueNAS CORE Web UI

  1. Log on to the TrueNAS CORE web UI as the root user
  2. Connect to the DS-System using DS-Operator.
  3. Assign access roles to the DS-System Admin user.

 

Video 2: Configure DS-License Server

  1. Configure the DS-License Server.
  2. Configure the service provider information.

 

Video 3: Create a Customer Account

  1. Create a customer account and DS-Client.
  2. Export the customer registration information (CRI) file.

Follow the instructions in the email you received from Asigra to download and install the DS-Client software.
