Asigra Presents on Next Generation Cloud Backup at 2010 Gartner Data Center Conference

Dec 7, 2010

TORONTO – December 7, 2010 – Asigra Inc., a leading cloud backup software provider since 1986, today will present on how its customers have modernized data protection with Asigra Cloud Backup at the 29th Annual Gartner Data Center Conference. Being held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas from December 6-9, the conference addresses today's hottest data center issues, including next-stage virtualization and cloud computing, and brings together the world's leading solution providers. In a joint presentation with Backup Technology Limited, Asigra will lead a discussion on how U.K. customer, Liverpool Football Club, has improved data recovery with secure, reliable and predictable cloud-based backup.

The Gartner Data Center Conference is the premier event for IT operations executives and data center professionals, delivering all the tactics and strategies organizations need to know to put their data centers on the path to world-class performance. Today, Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) leaders are focused on delivering improved quality, agility, and innovative solutions to meet rapidly changing business dynamics. The conference offers these leaders a wealth of strategic guidance and tactical recommendations, and also brings together world-leading solution providers who understand the challenges unique to I&O.

At the conference, Asigra and its partner Backup Technology Limited (BTL) will provide an overview on how BTL helped revitalize the backup environment for U.K.’s Liverpool Football Club using Asigra Cloud Backup™. Titled, Asigra: How Liverpool Football Club Scored by Modernizing their Backup, this speaking session will take place Tuesday, December 7th from 1:45 pm – 2:45 pm.

"Due to its routine nature, data backup is a sometimes underrated component of the enterprise's cloud computing initiative, yet it is absolutely essential to data recovery," said Ashar Baig, Asigra's senior director of product marketing. "We designed Asigra Cloud Backup to leverage the efficiencies of cloud computing, making it far more efficient and cost-effective than traditional backup architectures. Plus, our solution offers the enterprise a great deal of flexibility in developing a strategic data protection plan that best meets its needs from the remote worker to the data center."

Asigra's deployment model lets users back up to a public cloud for offsite recovery, build a private cloud for on-site recovery or select a hybrid of the two models. Data can be backed up and recovered to and from physical, virtual, or a mix of physical and virtual servers. With its single code base and common platform, the solution protects everything from laptops to data centers. In addition, enterprises can create tiered backup policies that align the value of their data with the cost of protecting it.

Asigra's agentless design works with any virtual machine architecture and is better suited for virtual backup than agent-based solutions, thus eliminating application disruption or downtime during implementation or upgrades. The Asigra solution also eliminates security risks cased by open ports in the firewall and wastes no server resources on agent software. Autonomic healing and recovery validation functions constantly monitor and repair backup files, eliminating data corruption as a serious issue. Asigra Cloud Backup also offers enterprises backup and storage efficiencies unavailable with traditional backup architectures by allowing users to capture, ingest, and store less data. These efficiencies reduce the amount of backup software cycles and storage hardware required to deploy and maintain high levels of data protection.
