Asigra Signs Europe's Leading Disaster Recovery Service Provider
U.K.-Based Synstar to Offer Televaulting Distributed Backup/Recovery Software as Service to Customers

Toronto – October 6, 2004 – Asigra, the technology specialists in distributed backup and recovery software for network computing, today announced an agreement to provide the pan-European managed services provider Synstar with its Televaulting solution. By adding Asigra Televaulting to its suite of solutions, Synstar can now offer its customers the additional protection of distributed backup and recovery capabilities for enterprise-critical data.
Bracknell, England-based Synstar provides a 1,500-strong Europe-wide customer base with business availability and managed IT services, geared to deliver the continual availability of critical business data. The company has offices in eight European countries. Asigra Televaulting will enable Synstar customers to immediately realize the benefits of utility-based data protection for their mobile and decentralized environments.

"Adding Asigra’s Televaulting service to our service portfolio provides us with an optimal solution for the needs of our enterprise customers who operate in distributed network environments," said Dr. Klaus Heihoff, head of Synstar’s Data Management division. "The new functionality of service provisioning completes our comprehensive service management offering and incorporates a chargeback function that enables enterprises to cross-charge individual departments, based on their storage backup needs."

"Thanks to a distributed backup solution, technology service providers can use their existing backup infrastructure in data centers while benefiting from grid-based performance, with unlimited scalability in storage capacity," said Adrian Wise, Managing Director of Accentuate, Asigra’s first Master Reseller in the U.K. "Distributed backup offers enterprises a lower price per terabyte of stored data than traditional piecemeal storage solutions. Combined with Asigra’s data volume-based licensing model, the storage of business critical data truly becomes a commodity because customers only pay for the storage capacity that they actually need – there is no need to tie up IT investment in future storage capacity that customers may not use for years to come."

"Companies across Europe who entrust their data protection and management to Synstar now have access to a valuable new service," said Eran Farajun, Executive Vice President of Asigra. "Managed service providers offer a centrally administered, agentless backup and recovery solution. The fact that this service can be implemented quickly and is simple to maintain gives providers a significant competitive advantage, which they can pass onto their customers."
Asigra Televaulting incorporates agentless multi-site backup/recovery software that combines utility service provisioning with a disk-based, WAN-optimized architecture, which together eliminate the limitations of traditional distributed backup software. Asigra Televaulting provides grid-based performance and capacity scaling for virtually unlimited data growth, allowing the software to support any backup load.

Asigra eliminates many storage pain points through technology that is designed for enterprise-wide centralization, built from the ground up to perform on a global level. It is tested and certified compatible by leading infrastructure providers, not to take the place of data center backup software, but to complement it for remote sites. Business benefits that differentiate Asigra's offering from other backup solutions include true regulatory compliance, reduction in worldwide IT management expenditures, compounded reduction of hardware/software capital and enterprise-wide license costs, a pay-as-you-grow pricing model and the highest level of assurance that all company data is protected.
