Press Release (U.S.)
Asigra Opens Doors to Interoperability
Lab
Begins Distributed Backup/Recovery Certification
for Service Providers, Resellers, OEMs
Toronto – September 7, 2004 – Asigra, the technology
specialists in distributed backup and recovery software for network
computing, today announced its Asigra Interoperability Assurance
Lab, created to validate the company’s Televaulting software
solution with third-party vendors’ hardware and software
storage platforms. The lab is based at Asigra’s corporate
headquarters in Toronto.
The majority of the Asigra Interoperability Assurance Lab testing
will center on measuring performance and capacity scalability
to identify potential bottlenecks. Lab engineers run tests with
billions of directories and hundreds of millions of files in a
single volume to determine disk subsystem performance and file
system limitations.
"Interoperability claims are often based on hypothetical
assumptions or because a product worked in a similar environment
or test, however, we are taking a more reliable and individual
approach to demonstrating interoperability," said Eran Farajun,
Asigra Executive Vice President. "The Asigra Lab allows us
to test and validate our claims and ensures that a joint solution
with a third-party vendor will in fact work as promised when installed
at a customer’s site."
A key benefit to interoperability testing is increased sales for
storage hardware vendors who can easily market a joint solution
to its customers, as well as faster and higher levels of customer
service by service providers who can be confident that Asigra’s
pre-tested solution provides 24/7 data availability. Interoperability
assurance is also an important process for both customers of the
Asigra Televaulting solution as well as users of third-party storage
technologies. For those who wish to leverage their current investment
in incumbent solutions, interoperability testing will ensure that
both products will work smoothly together.
Tests are performed for direct-attached disk, NAS and SAN configurations.
To date, Asigra has tested various vendors’ storage products
including, Dell, Sun, HP, IBM, LSI Logic and NetApp. Other tests
include connecting the storage sub-systems to multi-node N+1 Grid
configurations of the Asigra software to simulate thousands of
simultaneous connections.
Asigra Televaulting is agentless multi-site backup/recovery software
that combines utility service provisioning with a disk-based,
WAN-optimized architecture to shatter the limitations of traditional
distributed backup software. Asigra Televaulting provides grid-based
performance and capacity scaling for virtually unlimited data
growth, allowing the software to support any backup load. Asigra
eliminates many storage pain points through technology that is
designed for enterprise-wide centralization, built from the ground
up to perform on a global level. It is tested and certified compatible
by leading infrastructure providers, not to take the place of
data center backup software, but complement it for remote sites.
Business benefits that differentiate Asigra’s offering from
other backup solutions include true regulatory compliance, reduction
in worldwide IT management expenditures, compounded reduction
of hardware/software capital and enterprise-wide license costs,
a pay-as-you-grow pricing model and the highest level of assurance
that all company data is protected.
