Asigra Extends Service-Provider Business Model Via Partnership to ISV Market
Jonas Software expands offerings to Club and Construction industries with Asigra-based online backup/recovery services
TORONTO – February 8, 2006 – Asigra™, the technology specialists in agentless distributed backup and recovery software for network computing, today announced its partnership with Jonas Software, an independent software vendor (ISV). A trusted developer and leading provider of integrated software systems for the Club, Hotel, Construction, and Service Billing industries, Jonas Software demonstrated the first fruits of the ground-breaking partnership with the recent launch of the Jonas Software e-backup service. Utilizing Asigra agentless backup/restore technology, the Jonas Software service enables fast, secure, and cost-effective D2D data backup and offsite vaulting.
The partnership sets up a unique win-win-win scenario, opening new vertical markets to Asigra, presenting additional revenue-stream opportunities to Jonas Software, and enabling Club and Construction clients to purchase online backup/recovery services through a trusted vendor.
“Asigra is excited to be breaking new ground with Jonas Software as they expand their software offerings with an Asigra-based backup/restore service,” said Eran Farajun, Executive Vice President of Asigra. “Traditionally Asigra has licensed Televaulting technology to ISPs, MSPs, hosters, and telcos, so this new model promises tremendous opportunity in virgin territory.”
“We are committed to offering superior products and services to our customers,” said John Billowits, President of Jonas Software. “Consequently, we performed extensive research on backup software technologies and interviewed managed service providers already delivering electronic backup services. Positive testimonials, agentless simplicity, and stand-out features made Asigra the best choice.”
Billowits cited functionality such as 256-bit AES “in-flight” and “at-rest” encryption, WAN optimization and compression techniques that allow customers to utilize existing Internet connectivity, and simple, yet granular recoverability as critical solution elements.
Club and Construction customers can take advantage of the Jonas Software e-Backup Service to protect all types of information and systems, from critical Jonas Software application data to Microsoft Outlook, Exchange and SQL servers, and user’s desktops and laptops. Billowits said that the ability to perform over-the-Internet hot backups is one of many differentiating benefits of the Asigra technology. “Our customers cannot afford to stop key business applications while they backup systems, it’s just no longer practical. So it was essential that we offered a technology that had automated, non-disruptive data protection.”
“Recovery through the Asigra product is very fast and simple,” Billowits added, “particularly when you compare it to traditional tape systems. With the Jonas Software e-Backup Service, our customers can easily restore exactly the data they need, down to a specific file or email. Through authentication, strong encryption, and non-escrowed keys, we give them unprecedented peace of mind. Asigra technology guarantees that their data is secure and can be read only by the client who stored it — the encryption key is never escrowed with the service provider.”
The Jonas Software e-Backup Service directly addresses the full spectrum of data backup, protection and recoverability needs of small and medium businesses. For that reason, Billowits expects a high adoption rate among the company’s installed base of 4,200 Club and Construction clients. “Recent events like the Gulf Coast hurricanes have underscored to our customers the critical need for online backup,” he said. “What they are looking for now is an affordable, easy, and reliable way to get it done. Using the Asigra technology, we can offer them one-step backup and offsite vaulting to a protected and secure Tier 1 data center. It’s an excellent service, especially for smaller organizations without IT departments. They no longer have to worry about losing all their data in a disaster or risk compromising sensitive membership data on unencrypted tapes.”
