Press Release (U.S.)

Exanet, Asigra First to Achieve More Than One Billion Files in a Single File System
ExaStore/Televaulting Joint Solution Improves Storage Utilization, Performance

Herzliya, Israel and Toronto, Canada – October 24, 2006 – Exanet, the leader in high-performance, clustered NAS software, and Asigra™, the technology specialists in agentless remote backup and recovery software, today announced that a joint solution featuring the companies’ ExaStore® and Televaulting™ systems has successfully stored more than one billion files on a single distributed file system – an industry first!

Featuring an ExaStore two-node High Performance Cluster and an Asigra N+1 DS-System architecture, 1.13 billion data files were distributed to remote site servers during the test. ExaStore provided a single IP address for Televaulting to write to, while automatically balancing the load and the data to the least busy node and least occupied disk drives, thus maximizing total storage performance and capacity. The ExaStore single file system eliminated the need for Televaulting to manage backend storage repository operations, allowing it to allocate resources to data vaulting rather than data management, which in turn increased total performance.

Additional performance and capacity improvements were achieved through the elimination of link files. With ExaStore, there is no need to manage multiple file system mount points and the data links associated with them, thereby eliminating layers of complexity and significantly speeding the recovery of business-critical information at remote sites.

“The combination of ExaStore and Televaulting has already proven in user sites to be a successful marriage of two synergetic technologies that provide a flexible, easy-to-use solution without the limitations of other NAS solutions,” said Rami Schwartz, Exanet CEO. “Storing one billion files in a single distributed file system has never been done before. This record-setting achievement highlights our continued commitment to delivering high-end, high-performance, data and content management and delivery to a full range of applications, including to the most demanding enterprise customers.”

“Exanet and Asigra expect their first production customer to hit the one billion file watermark in the beginning of 2007,” added Schwartz.

“The success in reaching more than a billion files on a single file system is derived from Asigra’s and Exanet’s shared dedication to high-performance engineering R&D focused on delivering the best remote office data protection solution on the market for highly distributed enterprises. With ExaStore and Televaulting, enterprise users get an unbeatable solution that is simple to understand, deploy and manage, unrestrained by scalability or performance issues,” said Eran Farajun, Executive Vice President of Asigra. “This joint solution gives geographically distributed enterprises the confidence that they will have dependable, fast access to their ROBO data at all times.”

Asigra Televaulting, coupled with Exanet’s ExaStore clustered NAS storage system, provides a highly scalable and reliable solution that meets the growing business demands of Backup Service Providers and large, geographically dispersed enterprises. The combination of the industry’s best clustered and N+1 grid solutions brings the next level of data protection to companies’ IT services. The ExaStore/Televaulting offering keeps businesses running smoothly, with a solid backup solution at a drastically reduced total cost of ownership.
