Asigra Certifies Xyratex High-Density Storage Enclosures with Televauting Software Xyratex RS-1600 earns interoperability assurance with Asigra’s
agentless multi-site backup and recovery software
London - 25th April, 2005 – Asigra TM, the technology specialist in agentless distributed backup and recovery software for network computing, today announced that it has successfully passed the Xyratex (Nasdaq: XRTX) RS-1600 family of enterprise-class storage enclosures for use with its Televaulting TM software after certifying performance and capacity scalability at the Asigra Interoperability Lab in Toronto.
Xyratex is a leading provider of enterprise-class data storage subsystems and network technology to leading OEMs. The RS-1600 line of Fibre Channel RAID and JBOD/SBOD storage enclosures were tested to determine disk subsystem performance and file system limitations with billions of directories and hundreds of millions of files in a single volume. Lab engineers verified that both products will work smoothly together.
“Xyratex prides itself on product innovation and its commitment to providing top-of-the-line customer service to its OEM partners,” said Eran Farajun, executive vice president of Asigra. “By validating its RS-1600 family of storage and network systems with our multi-site backup and recovery software, they have assured partners that they can confidently install a pre-tested joint solution that will provide complete data availability and reliability.”
The Asigra Interoperability Lab ensures compatibility between third-party vendors’ hardware and software storage platforms and the company’s distributed Televaulting backup software. In addition to providing customer assurance that both new and prior-installed solutions will operate as designed, vendors can realise increased sales by marketing a pre-tested solution with important assurances built into the deal.
Asigra eliminates many backup pain points through multi-site backup and recovery software technology that is designed for enterprise-wide centralisation, built from the ground up to perform on a global level. It is tested and certified compatible by leading infrastructure providers not to take the place of data center backup software, but complement it for multi-site backup and recovery. Business benefits that differentiate Asigra’s offering from other backup solutions include true regulatory compliance, reduction in worldwide IT management expenditures, and compounded reduction of both hardware/software capital and enterprise-wide license costs. Asigra also offers a “pay-as-you-grow” compressed-capacity-based licensing model, allowing users to pay only for storage under management. The initial implementation capacity is based on the amount of compressed data to protect. After that, customers are charged per compressed terabyte of additional storage.
