It’s been almost two years since this report was last produced this, and during that time the vendor landscape has changed considerably; however, one constant remains true: Backup is a struggle for both enterprises and small and medium-size businesses (SMBs). Many firms continue to have difficulty completing backups in the time available, and a large number of backups fail or complete with errors. In addition, there are gaps in backup coverage. Asigra's highly differentiated capabilities offer significant advantages over the traditional solutions being applied to protect VMware environments. Even without its specific VMware support, Asigra is a compelling next-generation backup and recovery solution with its agentless architecture, data de-duplication capability, and intelligent and easy-to-use management tools. Asigra's agentless solution is built from the ground up for service provisioning and provides a hands free approach. Managed service providers targeting this space are improving their bottom lines with Asigra by helping organizations reduce their operational and capital expenditures with a time tested solution. The Asigra agentless backup solution significantly reduces the complexity of managing a backup environment, answering the number one complaint that we hear from customers about their current backup software.
The ability of Asigra to add their agentless capabilities to databases and virtual machines is a huge leg up on the competition. From a remote backup perspective, Asigra's technology continues to be the one to watch. The combination of a robust backup engine and the capacity-based pricing model makes Asigra an appealing choice for any organization that is dealing with excessive backup/recovery licenses.
Asigra's success in the market is due in part to the demand for WAN-optimized backup, which has been driven by both distributed enterprises seeking consolidated data protection and managed service providers that provide services to distributed enterprises that understand the benefits of outsourced backup. With WAN-optimized backup high on IT's list to provide better accountability, reliability, and efficiency, Asigra provides a proven solution that the market has responded to favorably.
